Where teeth cannot be restored and the best solution is placement of an implant the method in which an existing tooth is removed is important to ensure that adequate bone remains in order for the implant to be placed securely.

In some cases it is possible to remove the tooth and place the implant at the same time.

However if time is required for healing or to eliminate infection, or if any bone augmentation is required then it can be 8 weeks to 6 months before the implant can be placed.

A temporary plate/denture can be made for use during the healing process if the tooth is required for eating or if it is within your smile line.
